Hidden Gems in Central Portugal: Jardim Horto de Camões in Constância

In Constância, Portugal there is a one-of-a-kind garden. This garden is called Jardim Horto de Camões. It is believed that the famous poet of Portugal was forced to live in Constância while he was paying a sentence in prison. Been there wrote many of the verses that are still read today. It is said that it was also from there where he departed to the journey that would eventually lead him to write maybe the most famous of his writing pieces; Os Lusíadas, text that would be used as a major reference to create the beautiful garden.

While we were there, we took advantage and explored the town of Constância. Beautiful narrow streets, full of colors and flowers. The town has dedicated many areas to Camões. It is perfect to get lost and enjoy the view of the Tejo river from the top of the hill. You should visit!
