I Think We're Turning Portuguese, I Really Think So/ Closer To Happy

After 2 months of staying in Lisbon, we share why we’ve decided to move here. We’ve discovered amazing treasures, experiences and people, and we’ve only scratched the surface.

Some of our favorite discoveries:

Lisbon
Neighborhoods that we love (and one that we don’t)

Santos – where we’ve been living. Up and coming, cool restaurants, great yoga, excellent grocery store. Centrally located, on the river.
Our favorite places in Santos – Boca Linda Mexican Restaurant, Heim for breakfast, Mila for the best croissants and coffee (also great breakfast), Baraza Yoga for excellent yoga classes, Mercado do Santos – wonderful grocery store with lots of international food and beautiful produce.

Amoreiras – Quieter than Santos, great tree-lined streets, proximity to beautiful park and Amoreiras Shopping Center

Chiado – the coolest neighborhood for shopping, restaurants, seeing and being seen. Beautiful views. Don’t miss Mini-bar Teatro for an incredible dining experience.

Principe Real – also great restaurants, shops, architecture

We spent a lot of time at Praia da Riviera on the Costa da Costarica. Huge, beautiful beach, great little restaurant right on the beach.

Baixa – yeah, too touristy. Not our favorite at all.

The Algarve

We didn’t spend much time down here on this trip, but did stay in Albufeira at the W Algarve. Brand new, beautiful hotel with the loveliest staff and really excellent restaurants.

Porto
Porto is a lovely city with so much to offer. We stated at the outrageously beautiful Torel Palace, ate at our favorite restaurant Muu (make reservations, they book far in advance) and enjoyed our time at World of Wine. The rest of the time was spent walking, walking, walking and exploring.

Cheryl and Cliff are C-suite executives who built and sold their content marketing agency before embarking on a journey to design a different kind of life.
