Healey Boat Restoration Part 1 | Stripping Down and Grinding Fibreglass

In this video we are taking a look around the latest boat to come in to the workshop for restoration. This boat is a Healey 75, made by the Healey car company, it has a fibreglass hull, wooden deck and wooden internal structure.

Some time ago the boat was dropped and then repaired as an insurance job. This consisted of someone fibreglassing over all of the internal wooden structure with polyester resin and chopped strand mat. The internal structure then proceeded to rot away and disintegrate.

This week we have been starting to remove all of this old rotten wood out of the boat and grind back the internal surface of the hull before starting to build a new later of glass and reconstruct the framework.
