The Palace of Estoi is a rococo building renowned for its gardens and azulejos (blue and white tiled ceramic). The palace was built in the late 19th century and is the finest example of this kind of architecture.
Built in the 19th century by the Viscount of Estoi, a man of wealth and taste, he created a beautiful neo-rococo family home with French style gardens, including statues and exotic flora. Typical Portuguese tiles adorn a number of walls and it takes in two tea pavilions, a number of dining rooms and even its own chapel.
The palace is now part of the Pousada de Faro, a luxury hotel in Estoi, near Faro in Eastern Algarve.
