Beach Trip Spain - Rota Beach - More From Our Road Trip

A spotlight on the city of Rota, Spain, which sits across the bay from Cadiz, the launching point for Christopher Columbus' expedition all those years ago.

Rota is a charming little fishing village with a fantastic beach and excellent choices for food, hotels and beach bars.

In our last video, we set off from Portugal, rolled across the border to Spain and hit a few beaches along the Spanish Costa de la Luz en route to Tarifa - it's worth checking out that video and visiting Tarifa if you are ever out that way, as it's some of the finest beach water I've ever experienced. The windy point into the Straits of Gibraltar make the waves come back on you, too. Just awesome.

Back to this video, where we arrive at Rota and head straight to the Hotel Playa de la Luz before heading into town for dinner. The next morning we wake up to a fantastic beach day. After a morning walk on the beach, we roll into town for lunch and then hit the beach near the Hotel Duque de Najera, sister hotel to the Hotel Playa de la Luz.

We enjoy the beach for a little while, stroll through town, check out the old castle and then call it a day.
