The Algarve is the south coast of Portugal, and the capital of the Algarve is Faro. Faro is also the airport of the Algarve, through which the many Algarve tourists arrive. Faro has a beautiful old town, a cozy pedestrian zone and many sights.

Directly in front of Faro is the protected Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, a 60 km long lagoon landscape with beach islands facing the Atlantic. You can take the ferries to the beach islands, get to know the Ria Formosa with excursion boats or explore the nature trails by bike or on foot.

In addition, you can reach the Algarve by train from Faro in both directions. In this video we made a trip to Vila Real de Santo António on the Spanish border, and we visited Olhão, which is close to Faro.

From a beautiful old town to the Ria Formosa nature park, to beautiful Atlantic beaches and good connections to trips to the Algarve, Faro has everything that makes for a beautiful and varied holiday.
